One of its latest completed projects is<strong style=\"text-align: justify;\"> GuangZhou Opera House<\/strong>. I think it&#8217;s known that if a building is well argued about, then it&#8217;s a good building because it challenges the pragmatism of architects. In my argument, well I think, yes it&#8217;s an outstanding building that does not really reflect the local culture =) It&#8217;s another language of post-modern architecture that speaks the language in any place of this world.<\/p>\n<div id=\"attachment_1030\" style=\"width: 507px\" class=\"wp-caption aligncenter\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" aria-describedby=\"caption-attachment-1030\" class=\"size-full wp-image-1030 \" style=\"border-style: initial; border-color: initial;\" title=\"guangzhou-opera-house-016\" src=\"http:\/\/blog.japhethlim.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/guangzhou-opera-house-016.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"497\" height=\"264\" srcset=\"http:\/\/blog.japhethlim.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/guangzhou-opera-house-016.jpg 497w, http:\/\/blog.japhethlim.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/guangzhou-opera-house-016-300x159.jpg 300w, http:\/\/blog.japhethlim.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2011\/12\/guangzhou-opera-house-016-150x79.jpg 150w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 497px) 100vw, 497px\" \/><p id=\"caption-attachment-1030\" class=\"wp-caption-text\">Zaha Hadid with the grand opera house.<\/p><\/div>\n<div>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">(credits to wiki for the following post) \u00a0In April 2002 an International Architectural Competition attracted\u00a0<a title=\"Coop Himmelb(l)au\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Coop_Himmelb(l)au\">Coop Himmelb(l)as<\/a>,\u00a0<a title=\"Rem Koolhaas\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Rem_Koolhaas\">Rem Koolhaas<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Zaha Hadid\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zaha_Hadid\">Zaha Hadid<\/a>\u00a0&#8211; each producing detailed designs.\u00a0In November 2002, Zaha Hadid&#8217;s &#8220;double pebble&#8221; was announced the winner and the groundbreaking ceremony was held early in 2005.\u00a0The theatre has become the biggest performing centre in southern China and is one of the three biggest theatres in the nation alongside\u00a0<a title=\"Beijing\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Beijing\">Beijing<\/a>&#8216;s\u00a0<a title=\"National Grand Theatre\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/National_Grand_Theatre\">National Grand Theatre<\/a>\u00a0and\u00a0<a title=\"Shanghai\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shanghai\">Shanghai<\/a>&#8216;s\u00a0<a title=\"Shanghai Grand Theatre\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Shanghai_Grand_Theatre\">Shanghai Grand Theatre<\/a>.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The project cost 1.38 billion yuan\u00a0(approx. US$200 million).<\/p>\n<h3 style=\"text-align: justify;\">Design<\/h3>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The structure was designed by Iraqi architect\u00a0<a title=\"Zaha Hadid\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Zaha_Hadid\">Zaha Hadid<\/a>\u00a0its freestanding concrete auditorium set within an audacious exposed granite and glass-clad steel frame took over five years to build and was praised upon opening by architectural critic\u00a0<a title=\"Jonathan Glancey\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/Jonathan_Glancey\">Jonathan Glancey<\/a>\u00a0in\u00a0<em><a title=\"The Guardian\" href=\"http:\/\/en.wikipedia.org\/wiki\/The_Guardian\">The Guardian<\/a><\/em>, who called it &#8220;at once highly theatrical and insistently subtle.&#8221;\u00a0The dramatic structure was the source of inspiration behind fashion designer Vivienne Tam&#8217;s fall &#8217;10 collection.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><a
